Brakes
Not much to say here. Huge stopping ability, much like a 911
(993 only). I've just been out and stood on the pedal coming into a roundabout at a huge
speed, in the wet, and the car
slowed like it was dry! Just a small weave left and right (about 3 inches?)
as the ABS massaged my foot. It does sound like the wheels are turning at about 50% road
speed (compared to a feeling of 95% road speed in the 968 or 993) and there's a whole load
of squeaking from the tyres. As the car has a few miles under it, the brakes improve
hugely. No more tramlining and even better stopping in the dry.
As I mentioned in
the pedals section, though, the brakes are also hugely controllable for easy and
comfortable town driving. After the 993's wooden pedal, the Boxster feels so much better!
Feels the same,
stops the same, but doesn't suffer the problem where if you "slam on" in the
Boxster you don't slow as well (the Boxster needs the correct hard squeeze to let the
weight transfer). In the 996 I got phenomenal braking by squeezing and banging the pedal.
