What colour is your car?

Ocean metallic blue with black cloth interior and roof. Lots of people email me just to ask this...

If you were ordering now, what options or colours would you specify?

17" wheels, wind deflector, air con, alarm, trip computer. No hard suspension (why bother when the standard suspension is firm and perfect?), no electronic interference with my rear wheels, no hardtop. Ocean blue, arena red and silver all look nice. Non metallics cause the curves to vanish, but I'd consider the turquoise blue and that outrageous yellow colour. But remember; the options you choose are, by definition, the right ones.

How much is it, and what is the lead time?

Depends on which country you're in, and what mood the dealer is in. Go on, phone him!

Is it cheap to run?

Look here.

Do you think it's underpowered?

No, especially not since it is run in (15,000 miles at least) and has the wild pipe on it. If, however, you think that PORSCHE = POWER and that when you floor the throttle at 3000 rpm you will blast past everyone, then maybe you should consider a different car.

Would you buy one again?

If it was a newer model. My car was great, out of the factory. But it has fallen apart pretty quickly and the dealer has been unable to sort a few problems. The later cars are much better.

I'm toying with the idea, but am nervous about the soft roof being leaky or cold - is it?

No. It's quiet and totally water and wind proof. Not related to anything you will have seen to date.

I have an early car and my roof keeps popping out of the gutters. Is there a fix?

Yes. Tie a knot in it. See the "wishlist" section.

Do you work for Porsche?

No. I make pipeline connectors for subsea use primarily in the North Sea oil industry.

Would you like a tiptronic?

Like a hole in the head. Buy a car designed purely for driving pleasure, and then let a machine do it (much worse than a human can)? However I can see why many do (especially in the land of the automatic), and are very happy with the system.
