My Boxster
I was fortunate to agree to have "one of those silver cars" more than three
years ago, when negotiating my 968.
Hence my car was the first customer delivery for my
dealer, so a learning experience all round. Being a UK spec car, it is RHD and comes with
electric mirrors, Thatcham class 1 remote control alarm and immobiliser, CD player, and
that's it. I added 17" wheels with Michelin Pilot
SX's (but no sports suspension package), air conditioning, centre console and wind
deflector kit. The paint is ocean blue metallic (very dark blue, almost navy), and the
interior is black non-leather (cloth). My trusty Valentine One found its way onto the dash top. The car has chassis
number 1211.
So what's it really like?
You, like me, will have read
magazine reports (where the writer has done a few miles, got an impression, andis then
desperate to put down some decent sounding similes) or the official Porsche promotional
guff. I intend to describe here what the car is really like to own and to drive in
everyday situations (the Boxster is my main car and I commute 50 miles a day). Also I will
try to explain what the Porsche engineers have built, but not in the style of the
marketing men who write those awful brochures.
