Styling
I wasn't going to include a styling section, because this is a personal thing, and you can all make your own minds up. But what I can do is report the reaction other people give to the car.
On the road, both the 911 and 968 are well known icons. The 911 says you are wealthy and the 968 still has the remains of the 944 in it, where the 944 was the icon of the '80s yuppie. Both can on occasion produce a poor reaction from certain idiots, and I feel that sometimes even enthusiasts decline to comment because they feel that you (the driver) may not be an enthusiast.
What a relief the Boxster is! Everyone has had a comment, and they have all been positive. I get thumbs up gesticulations from other drivers (and motorcyclists in particular), and everyone who sees the car stationary has a good thing to say. A definite trend is for over 30's to like the front more than the back, and under 30's to love the back. I guess this is because the rear is much more modern, and the young can cope with this better. Also the car appeals to women in a way that the 968 never did - I think the colour helps, or maybe it's just the driver?
A few people comment on the rear looking like the front (see photo above).

The only sad event to happen was when two young lads in the lane next to me were leaning over to have a look, waving and smiling, and they failed to notice the car in front of them slowing and they crashed into it! Luckily only a bumper and a few lenses suffered.
Whilst back in a 993 briefly, it looked hopelessly antiquated. Jurassic even. I reckon that as the world gets used to the Boxster, they will feel the same way too, possibly causing a reduction in the perceived value of the 993. Maybe.
Lovely. At first
I missed the flared wheel arches and didn't get on too well with the slab-sides in their
place, but now the car seems to fit its refined GT role, leaving the Boxster as the
traditional sports car.
