Come for a test drive!Boxster in a slide

For this you will need a Real Audio 3.0 player or plug-in, and a little imagination. I recorded a Dash5 minute soundtrack using an SVHS camcorder held by a friend in the passenger seat. The run is mostly at high speed, so I apologise for the wind noise and bump noise. The sound quality from Real Audio is OK, but the cool bit is that you get sound almost immediately after clicking the link. You'll need at least a 28.8 modem connection. Let's go!

Here's where we're going during the drive:

Time Description Speed
0m 00s Right turn out of junction with plenty of wheelspin 0-100
0m 10s Fast 4th gear bends with two 2nd gear overtakes 70-110
1m 15s Down to first for left turn at junction 0
1m 31s Slow cruise in 3rd 35
1m 40s Slight left hand bend 25
1m 44s Stop for left turn at junction, then hard take off 0-60
2m 19s Cruise past school and houses 40
2m 39s Gentle acceleration 50
2m 45s Accelerate down short straight 30-50
3m 10s Cruise past shops and junctions 30
3m 45s Great left hander followed by short straight 30-80
4m 05s Slow slightly round bend for... 70
4m 12s Junction, turn right and accelerate hard 0-90
4m 28s Round final bend and slow for traffic 50

Finally, if you really want to have a virtual test drive, you have to play the excellent Porsche Challenge for the Playstation (I think this is only available in Europe).

Important: all the above is fiction and the sound was synthesised. No speed limits were broken.
