Funny you should mention the colour I thought mine were a brighter yellow after they were replaced too, I also thought the plastic gaiter was different also, the corugations were much closer together. but I wasnt sure, perhaps thats how to tell if the strut has been changed. There also appears to be a plastic collar around the bump stop which is attached to the top of the strut.
