I had an in depth paint analysis carried out by HUK on the original paintwork on my car.

According to their report the lacquer on my car was below their specification in many of the areas they took measurements from. However because the total depth of the paint layers met their required minimum specification (in some places only just). My arguement was that surely the lacquer should have been met their minimum requirement at the very least but they refused to accept that the paintwork was inferior. It was a losing, stressful battle that I ended up withdrawing from.

Having had my entire car (except roof) re-sprayed (the bonnet twice) my paint appears to have a lot more resistance to chips thankfully.
