Oh yes it does...

I know this is an old topic and thread drift but I had to correct one of the posts above. The hybrid does run on battery only in certain circumstances....if you back off the pedal at around 15-25 mph to get into regen and then very gently squeeze it again you can get up to 5 bars of asist with the petrol engine off and continue for some distance (miles rather than yards if you can keep your foot still !).

As I have said in previous posts you really have to learn how to use the hybrid, you can't drive it like a conventional car and expect to get the benefits available from its clever technology.

I've now had mine for some months, but only driven a few thousand miles due to working from home a lot. It is now giving (with the right driving!) 60mpg+ in mixed driving over hundreds of miles. I am sure it will do better as the miles increase and get up to the 72mpg+ that I was getting from the old mk1 (had done about 17000 miles) before I changed.
