After 3,000 miles, I'm still struggling to get more than 42-43 mpg out of my 2.2.

In my last 3 cars driving the same route to work (50 mile round trip, mainly motorway) at the same speeds, I generally returned about 90% of the official combined figures (e.g. 29 from the petrol CRV, 35 from the petrol 2.0 Z4, and 44 from to 520 Diesel) So I know it's not my driving style, and all cars did this from new.

With the cruise on and set to 80 on the motorway (really 76 mph) it settles in to an average of about 42 mpg, even after 50-100 miles.

A mate with an 06 2.2 with 30,000 miles on is averaging over 50 mpg, all the time!

I've checked the consumption at fill ups, and the computer seems pretty accurate, assuming the trip milo is accurate (although I've tried to compare it with the sat nav, and it does seem to under read compared with the nav, but only by about 1%).

I live in hope that it will improve with more miles, but has anyone had any success taking a 2.2 back to the dealer for a 're-tune'?
