LOL

was actually a very long and sedate drive from Cardiff up towards Glasgow.
Acheived by religously sticking to mid 50mph, drafting lorries where possible, planning overtaking about 10 miles in advance and never once touching the brakes.
Basically driving like a lorry - letting gravity help down hills, not trying to keep the speed up going up hills (just giving enough gas to not let it slow down too much)

revs as close as possible to about 1500 - 1700

manual throttle (not cruise)

by 100 miles, it was at 70mpg, and gradually, gradually crept up to 73 38 miles later

at which point I was
a) completly bored
b) knackered from all the extra concentration
c) busting
