I'm getting about the same from my 1.8. I have seen up to 61.2 mpg on the display but that was mostly down hill driving with very light pressure on the pedal here and there! Lowest I’ve seen is around 25 mpg in second gear climbing a steep hill on my commute home. It depends on how careful you are. My car has only just covered 850 miles so isn't run in yet but I’m very happy with the figures. There about the same as my diesel Volvo s40 that I happily sacrificed for the new spaceship!!

I notice that many sporty version owners are complaining about mpg but what do they expect from a Type S or R. In my humble opinion, speed comes at the expense of economy.
