I notice that many sporty version owners are complaining about mpg but what do they expect from a Type S or R. In my humble opinion, speed comes at the expense of economy.
The type S is no quicker than the 5 dr. its the same engine in both the petrol and diesel forms. But the highest ive ever got out of the diesel is only 45 round town and thats not often. Mostly around the 40mpg. I am lucky to get 375 miles out of a tank. On a motorway it went to around 55mpg.
