There is a BIG problem with the Pre-Reg route, as I found out to my cost... If your insurance company has a clause that offers to replace your car with a new one if you suffer a total loss in the first 12 months (and most do), they only do this if your name is the first and only name in the logbook. My last car was stolen in October and was a 100 mile old dealer vehicle. The payout I received was terrible (Think trade in price which in their terms equates to "market value"). Only upshot of this is that I have a new Civic!
