Don't forget they have to cover costs like opening the circuit, admin, insurance etc, etc, etc. I know from experience ( I used to be heavily involved in motor sport) that circuits and insurance companies are becoming more and more paranoid about letting the public onto the tracks. I know everybody signs waivers saying they don't hold the circuit responsible for damage/injury but there are people who do get hurt and do try and take them to court. A few cases have come dangerously close to being won, which believe me would ruin ALL forms of motor sport in Britain if not world wide.
If you really want to put your car on the track then the easiest way is to go on hot hatch days , I know Knockhill in Scotland does them so other circuits probably do as well. With these you pay your money usually over £100 and you can go on track with other like minded individual with no experience of a race track. Or you can pay lots of money and hire the circuit just for yourself. Or you can get a racing licence and try racing for yourself.
Just remember NO insurance company is going to pay out for damage to your car, yourself or any third party.
That said when you do find somewhere enjoy it.
