- Mk 1 Escort – passenger footwell filled with water when it rained
- Mk 2 Escort 1600 Sport – lovely car, rubbish re-spray (before I got it), had to go after I crashed into the back of a skip lorry
- VW Beetle – good fun until I discovered that the body was not actually attached to the frame!
- Mk 2 Escort Estate – used as a mobile skip whilst renovating a house, saved a fortune, gear lever kept coming off in my hand
- Volvo 240 Estate – 2 kids, big prams and a dog, found other drivers giving way to me a lot!
- VW Jetta – fantastic car, huge boot and great fun to drive
- Ford Sierra 1.8 – used as a taxi for 4 years, virtually faultless
- Vauxhall Carlton 2.0 – great tow car, the most comfortable car I’ve ever driven
- Renault Clio 1.4 – took the chance to downsize for 3 years of cheap, fun motoring
- Alfa Romeo 147 1.6 – beautiful car, great to drive, fragile build quality and poor dealers let it down
- Civic 1.8 EX – driver’s seat is still a great place to be, good looks and quality, happy to keep it for another few years yet.
I am a bit of a ‘keeper’, usually only changing after 3ish years. I also don’t really have any brand loyalty, just try to buy what I fancy at the time. Have also been pretty lucky over the last 10 years, with only 1 breakdown actually leaving me stranded (Clio with a failed alternator, fixed under warranty).
