That's interesting.
Every car has a sweet spot. My old 2.0 Accord auto had a cruise speed sweet spot at about 80mph. Any faster seemed to be a strain, any slower was difficult to keep to.
My 2.2 Civic manual seems to get to 96 in a nanosecond before it starts to cruise and is extremely hard to keep below 80.
I'd be interested to know which gear most 2.2 drivers accelerate the most in. Fourth gear seems to make that annoying Vectra/Megane/Focus/Golf glued to my bumper become a dot in the rear view mirror with no effort when the road's 40 limit becomes 70.
Fifth and sixth gear are brilliant for overtaking, motorway cruising and accelerating especially when it's a Crossfire an inch from my bumper. Made that one appear to be standing still until the driver decided to seriously dent the speed limit to pass.
Still getting 50mpg as well.
