I would nt worry, I used the
VTEC on the same day I got the car just to see if everything was working correctly. You will get a burning smell as everything is still new, the exhaust will give off a smell, so will the brakes. And if you over rev the engine on a hill start you may also smell the clutch burning, this is not advised as you can burn it out for good! I've now done 3500 miles in just over 3 months and it will improve.
