Some people say that this is ok, because other (VAG) diesels are far worse. But to me that is not ok. I bought it second hand, and it had 35.000 km then. So it's not the "running in period" any more. Also, it's gonne be a costly operation, since it's 55 euro for 4 liters. And I don't like the thought that I always have to carry around a bottle in the back, just in case...

It's a magnificent engine, this 2.2 diesel, but this oil thing really bothers me.

K.
I know somebody who's first 2.2 cdti diesel was also a second hand and uses some oil.
This person's bought a new car with the 2.2 cdti diesel and now there's no need to fill up between services.
It al depends on the way of running in. Most people who are new to modern Diesels or don't have much experience with cars in common, are to rough and not carefull in the running in period. They can't wait to test the topspeed of a car or the 0-60 test.
It's not the engine's fault however, but this peace of high tech is sensitive for the first 5000 miles of running in period. Drive it as it's your own. I know that company car's are not always handled carefully. Unfortunatly
