Only I thought that these were fancy laser cut keys, which your local cobblers/keycutters would find nye on impossible to cut. This I believe is part of the security features of the car.

Looked into this, and you are correct, the honda keys are factory cut. However my local hardware store HAS a laser cutter and therefore can duplicate the key onto a suitable blank blade. I did a quick search on google and made a few calls and it seems it is relatively easy to find locksmiths who are able to laser cut blank blades. There are even some mobile locksmiths who can come to your house and laser cut keys to cars, I would't advise this as I'm sure they would sort you out with a nice bill. But it does prove that getting the blade cut isn't as difficult as some make it sound. Found a site for a company that sells laser key cutters and the actual machine is the size of a small bench drill so it should be quite easy to find a keycutting place that has one.
