Me too, exactly the same pattern, no sound, no indication. Just looked one day and it was broken but remained intact.
Number broken: One (Haven't replaced it yet)
Age of car: 8 months
Mileage: 7500

Cost of replacement: £75 pair eBay, try to self fit (although having read the thread will attempt via warranty).
I have a theory. We have numerous road humps where I live, and despite slow driving, the bottom skirt of the bumper regularly catches, surely this motion will flex the bumper upwards, creating a compression within the bumper, hence the regular breaking pattern we are seeing? (Apologies if this is already within the thread)
