If you read your post, I don't think it's the key that is stupid
My Laguna had the keyless entry system and I found it to be very good -very reliable, always locked when it should, no fumbling for keys etc.
Honda could easily do the same, as I'm sure they have similar features on their USDM/
JDM high spec models - it's just a question of cost! I'm sure future generations of Civic may have it.
If Honda do introduce it, I reckon the new Accord would be one of the first Honda models.
