I know prevention of wearing ratchet is the reason why UK driving school teaches to push the button.
I've never seen or heard of any worn ratchet outside UK, although seen other things worn or broken.
Does really hand brake ratchet wear? Or is it just a myth UK driving instructors believe from a few incidents on a certain model long time ago?
Watchdog mentioned that it's actually not a part of driving test, although instructors do teach to press. Why what driving instructors say is believed to be true, while we don't like them much?
