GPS mounts

So, my Garmin Nuvi arrived today, and I am very pleased so far. Not that I have had a chance to use it, the car's getting a spare fitted and the rear shocks replaced

It comes with 2 mounting options: Sucker on screen, or sucker on shiny disk that is stuck to dash.

The disk mounting option is really appealing to me. I want it on the large flat area, in front of and to the left of the display screen with the climate control settings and radio display. It seems perfect there, it won't leave rings on screen, it won't obscure my vision, and it looks a lot tidyer.

There is no documentation on the mounts, so it does not say if it is removable once it is installed. Obviously, it has to be fixed well enough to hold GPS steady, and allow the sucker to be stuck on and pulled off on a regular basis.

What I'm wondering is if anybody has tried anything similar, and if so, can the mount be removed when I don't want it in the car anymore?
Also, would you risk mounting the disk, or just make do with the windcreen mounting option?
