What I'm trying to find out is whether these cars are on the whole a reliable vehicle and is it that just bad news gets reported by users, or are there a sizeable number of quality issues which are far greater than most models. I need to be able to get in the car and drive it without wondering whether it will start today. If I don't get to work, I don't get paid, simple as that.
Have any users out there who have bought more recent models also experienced the same sorts of problems or do they seem to be more related to the cars built in the first year? Will the Civic be as reliable as my last two cars, one of which was French and never missed a beat in 75,000 miles!!

Hello Simon,
Have a look here
http://www.civinfo.com/forum/survey....results&sid=28
to make up your own opinion.
I'm the happy owner of a 2.2 i-ctdi since one year (Already one year !!!) I've driven 36500 km with her (lot of pleasure) and I've been 4 times visiting my dealer since then. One for putting in new accesories, one for a recall (ID plate n°), one for servicing and the last one to buy the filling oil plug I've lost (due to my own stupidity).
It's a major change from my previous car who need to pay a visit to the dealer nearly every month... But it was a French car
I would say go for it, but like with every manufacturer there is always a "chance of bad luck" of getting a Lemon !
The only unluckiest person I know is TC with two lemon in a raw (Sorry for that TC

)
So read the survey, review the different section and make your choice, it's up to you. But I can tell you that driving a spaceship is fun
