It might be a good moment to emphasise the fact that the summer tyres fitted on the Civ are only good for temperatures down to 7C. Below 7C you should use winter tyres (these are not snow tyres, they are winter tyres for use below 7C). Summer tyres when cold are very hard and have low grip and poor handling (especially in the wet).

The lack of friction on the roads we are used to in the winter, is actually a function of our summer tyres and not the roads. The roads feel great on winter tyres!
