I'm not convinced by the winter tyre argument, I've got Nokian WRG2s on my MX5 and I'm still feeling that the roads are slippy. I think is a build up of the salt mixture, diesel and general grime.

I'm not saying winter tyres aren't better below 7C because IMO they are but the roads are very greasy at the moment.
