Surely there is only one cause for a slipping clutch; lack of friction between the clutch plates.
This can be caused by
1; No friction lining left, worn away by wheel spin starts and riding the clutch on hills
2; Distortion of clutch plates by excessive heat from to much clutch riding.
3; Loss of spring force in the pressure plate (manfacturing defect)
4; Contamination of clutch by engine or hydraulic oil (leak from engine, gearbox or clutch hydraulics)
5; Failure of the release mech, preventing full engagment (cylinder sticking, blocked/crimped pipe, stuck lever) .
6; Failure of the adjustment mech, as the Civic clutch is hydraulic this should not happen.
7; Driven plate sticking in gearbox splines (due to rust, build up of friction material dust lack of grease on assembly).
Only the first 2 points caused by abusive driving should not be covered under warranty, but once the clutch starts sliping the lining will wear away anyway and heat damage may occur, making it look like the driver's fault!
Make sure the cause of the slipping is fully investigated before you take the hit on the repair costs. At anything less than 50,000 miles I would expect some goodwill gesture from Honda.
If you have been chipped and Honda find out I don't think they would help out then.
