This is getting ridiculous. We need to sort it once and for all.
The confusion seems to be whether any diesel Civic now has a
DPF as standard. The handbook is too vague, talking about cars with and cars without
DPF and not clearly saying "since engine number....a
DPF has been fitted to cars sold in the UK". Whether or not later cars have a
DPF affects which oil spec is needed. Early cars clearly did not have a
DPF. If none do still, the handbook should not imply some do.
The various grades in the handbook all have no upper ambient temperature limit so the deciding factor is how low a temp you are going to experience. 10w cut off is -20C and 5w cutoff is -25C. Anything lower and 0w required. Make should not matter as long as spec is same (my local dealer uses Elf).
That sorts the grade/make. We haven't confirmed which spec (see the handbook and the numbers eg. equivalent to Edge or Edge Turbo Diesel) and can't without knowing whether they now have a
DPF. I asked a dealer this morning and they THINK a
DPF is still not fitted for UK cars. I told them THINK doesn't cut it and they need to check with Honda UK.
