Another idea though!
In Saabs, they have a night mode button that kills all bar the most important driver information - i.e. speed.
That would be a good thing to have in the Civic!

Good idea - I am forever adjusting the brightness of the display.
Another idea is a light sensor so the display could dim at night when you are out of street lit areas
