I wonder what it is with Japanese alloy wheels.
Lexus have exactly the same problem where after a few years they start to corrode, quite badly in places where they get large black spots.
I had quite a few Citroens with alloy wheels and none of them showed any signs of corrosion, even after 4 years. The Lex started in about 2.
The second downside to this is that you don't get new wheels as a replacement but refurbished ones that just don't have the same finish. Heavy laquer yes, but just not the same.
The one thing I have noticed is that there is a marking on the wheels that is identical to the one on the Lexus wheels, wonder if Honda and Lexus use the same wheel supplier ?
