The trim is held on with about 12 clips and 2 screws. It also hooks into the bumper trim. So it would be very unlikely to come off on it's own. I expect a kerb just caught the underside of it and pulled it off.
The wheel-arch trim should just push back into the bumper trim and just click into place. There are no separate clips where the 2 join, it is moulded into the trim. I found it a bit fiddly, but it went in eventually.
I don't think it should take a dealer any more than 5 minutes to sort out, as long as there doesn't appear to be any damage to the trim.
