If you reset one of your trip meters when you fill up, it means that you know how much you are doing to the gallon.
I do exactly the same, and consistently get 44-45 litres in.

However, after 2 days of sensible driving (not easy when it's so much funny Vtec-ing), I've managed to get 400 miles out of a tankful. Trip Computer said I'd got 8 miles left.
Amazed when I managed to get 49.77 litres in.
