Hello from Göteborg
The last 9 years I have been driving BMW 318 (300 000km, 3 different cars) but a
month ago I decided to buy a smaller and cheaper car.
There is a number of cars like Toyota Auris; Hyundai I30, Skoda and so on,
probably reliable and economical cars but very boring.
And so there is the Civic which I tested several times and liked very much.
I like the design even if there are some stupid things like the rear spoiler.
I also like the firm suspension and roadholding because although I’m soon a pensioner I still like the push “hard” when the road curves.
Honda also had a reputation of good build quality.
I ordered a Civic 1.8 Sport and a week later I found Civinfo, started to read
about all faults and was almost scared to death “O my God what have I done”.
Anyway, it was to late to change so last Friday I picked up my Civic in
Borås, Sweden.
So far I’m very satisfied and I really hope that most of the faults are fixed.
My Civic was built January 2008.
As mentioned above I come from BMW so I’m well aware that I shouldn’t compare the comfort between the cars.
However there is one thing that really disturbs me and that’s the noise from the wheels.
OK, I have winter tires with nails (Is it the right word?) but I think it should be more quiet anyway.
I have tried to find Interior Mudguards (Lokari) with extra isolation but the Civic is
still to new so there are no available.
Anyway next week I will apply some stuff (like Noisekiller) in the rear wheel arches and hopefully it will help a bit.
I have read in the forum that you can buy a spare saver kit for around £100 in UK.
Asked for it in Sweden and Honda Sweden came up with a kit for 7000SEK (£560) which is robbery.
Does anyone know if “the UK kit” comes from Honda UK and, if so, perhaps we can refer to it here in Sweden.
That’s all for now.
