Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum so hello! I've been following all the paint threads with great interest.

I have a nighthawk black civic which is nearly a year old. It is absolutely riddled with paint chips. I drive it on A roads only to and from work and I've not been behind a gritter or anything so it is somewhat comforting to know that others have been having paint issues too. My other car (an 02 Renault Laguna) is driven much harder and has no paint damage!

I'm due to drop into my dealers body shop tomorrow for a paint thickness check and of course they will say it is in spec and stonechips aren't covered under warranty yada yada yada. However the car is a business contract hire with honda finance (2 years remaining). I'm tempted to throw a hissing fit and tell them that I want to cancel the hire contract because the car is less than a year old and looks terrible and I am faced with driving it for two more years, paying a premium for it to be "fully maintained". (I know of course there is a penalty for cancelling a hire agreement - half the remaining payments)

Has anybody got any advice on how I might proceed?

Does anyone have the actual Honda spec for the paint thickness/hardness?

Thanks in advance,
Dave
