Another new member to the forum starts on the Honda paint thread!
I too have a black civic (type S) which is now 5 months old and it's suffering from half a dozen stone chips to the bonnet (and all the other scratch problems etc. that people have had with the crappy Honda paint).
I've read through Hondas paint spec (Topcat's post) and I was wondering what thickness the supergaurd coating will add?
With paint specs there is normally a minimum figure (i.e. nowhere must the dry film thickness be less than x) and then there is a tolorence band where the average reading reside. Does anyone no what Honda's minimum figure is? (or are they saying 70 is the minimum?)
I don't think that DFT testers are all that expensive to hire. The DFT testing also seems a bit of a nosense because even if you find a bit the fails, you can find other bits that pass and only record what you want (sure they test 90 places, but where are they?)
Would there be any merit in getting an independant test done? Or would Honda just test it, say it's fine and dispute any other test? Getting some organsation with a solid reputation could make it difficult for Honda to do that.
Any thoughts?
