Ok, just been out to the car to play with the iPod connection - And now I am more confused

When I first fitted it, the iPod definitely wouldn't switch off without unplugging it, hence the comments in my original post.

Just tried it again and regardless of the position of the hold switch, or the setting for the backlight timer, the iPod switches off 2 minutes after the car is turned off - which is good, but makes me look.

So it looks like both those settings on the iPod were complete red herrings.

Off to update the wiki now........
