With regard to the Civic 5 door v the Auris, the Civic wins hands down, but should really come with reverse sensors as standard. Having had a 5 door for a while at work, the rear view is pretty awful. But I suppose it's one of those things that you get used to, and sacrifice for the greater good of the car itself.

Your comments are interesting because I looked at the Prius and came to the same conclusions as you. I loved the Civic Hybrid and would have bought one except that it was not a hatchback so I invested in my spaceship which I adore (the rear view has never been a problem for me) , after one look the Auris was never in with a chance.
