I shouldn't be on the list because I'll be having the first filter that Pipercross make, tested and fitted to my car.
My remark regarding
MAF's is a suggestion that, as the first user of a pipercross oiled filter, I'll be the first to experience any ill effect to my car (if it's gonna happen!)
The
MAF is the Mass Air Flow sensor, basically it checks the amount of air entering the engine, and is located just after the air filter box. There have been reports that users of oiled panel filters have in the past suffered
MAF failure, which causes your engine to turn decidedly sluggish. Oil from the filter migrates to the
MAF, with the flow of air to the engine, where it accumulates on the surface of the sensor, causing erratic readings. VAG TDI engines with Bosch sensors were reknowned for this.
Time will tell..... But what the hell!
