Thats sound advice, on some advanced driver training I did a few years ago, the instructor was going over car parks. His general rule of thumb was to park next to the best car you can, and ideally those that have reversed in to their space. There is then a much higher chance that a) they want to look after there car as much as yours and b) when reversed its less likely that you'll scraped as they leave...

I now extend this to make sure I dont park next to cars with baby seats or other very obvious signs of children (see child dinging above!)....

Having said that, I've still got one very small ding on my offside rear passenger door
