They are part and parcel of driving put the fact is I have stone chips everywhere on my car bottom of the doors, wings, skirts, bonnet and i've only done 2000 miles! like others on this site I have owned another car before which didn't chip like this and that was a new BMW Mini so it wasn't something from back in the day when they made good paint. But even BMW paint now adays isn't what it used to be............skirt on one of our cars looks almost white due to stone chips! So i'm glad mines isn't anywhere near as bad as that!
When I was cleaning the engine bay on my
CTR on Sunday with a microfiber cloth as bit of paint came away
Seems that the paint is rather too too soft! I did think that it had maybe been like that and I hadn't noticed but I found the 1.5cm by 4mm bit of paint stuck to the cloth!
