Mine definately doesn't come on - Jan 2007 2.2 Type S.

However, i've had a thought. I never have the temp on Auto - i manually set the temp and the fan speed myself. Could it be that it only comes on when Auto is turned on?

Edit: Just read that when it's on the light on the button doesn't come on. In that case, it probably does do it, just I don't know about it.
