Amazing how paints change, my "R" reg Xantia was totally chip free, even at 4½ years when I p/x'd it.
I still mostly blame the latest culture of them leaving 'loose chippings' on repaired roads instead of cleaning up properly. If there were no stones to be thrown about in the first place..............
