I dont know about other people's civics but mine had barely any stone chips at all, at its worst it had big un-removable scratches on several panels (one was caused by removing bird muck) even the lighter scratches that looked like they would polish out wouldnt, I also had a couple of dents in the paint on the rear panels that looked like a stone had hit the car an just dented and squashed the paint rather than chipped it (A bit like when you touch nail varnish before it is fully dry). However after the re-sprays it had perfect paintwork and it stayed that way until I sold it which was 9 months.
