agred, hell i played around in a old shape tyre r for a little while, 4000 rPm = very big ZOOM! I never understood the hype of vtec until I drove a Type R

I know its a slightly odd comparison, but that was the choice I had, there was no chance of a R () and as mentioned before the only thing that put the VXR in the picture was its the same price as the SE 2.2. My choice was tough as I miss having a crazy car, but in the last two years of owning a diesel have grown to love the economy of it. So had to look at going for all out loony car with raw GO and very sporty (yes almost boy racery hothatch style) looks and 25mpg, or settle for something less insane in the form of a 2.2D civic which can be tweeked up a little to improve performance while being affordable to run.
Personally I have never liked the astra interior and can be heard abruptly stating this when people mention maybe getting a astar diesel sri, a few years ago interior looks would have counted for Zero and exterior for all. Now I drive the better part of 100miles a day to work, I've quickly come to enjoy a comfortable cabin with toys and buttons and eye candy - one the reasons I chose the Civic over the cheaper Astra diesels initally, also they were reporting lower MPG then my current 1.6TD C4.
So Civic it was, then they came upon a problem - the model civic offered was infact the never seen before and mysteriously rumoured Civic 'S'. The dealer confirmed that it was a base model, no luxurey at all, no radios, no leky windows, steel wheels etc. As soon as I heard this I said no way, not when other companies are offering Sport and ES models for a little more then I was being quoted for the S. With that they said they had just received a new special offer, for £5 more I could have a Astra VXR..... So by this time I was all set on the civic (In fact my Collinite arrived today from the US), but with the dissapointment of the bad news the VXR seemed a possibility (memories of youthful speed and fun came straight back) and left me in a proper muddle over what to do. So they confirmed that the VXR was available, and then also said that they could have a Civic SE by mid May ....... which really left me stuck - cheap fun or economical power. So I came here to get some help on getting my mind made up - and pretty much right after posting I called and ordered the Civic anyway
I really cant wait now and a, looking forward to rubbing my Collinite all over the lovely red paintwork!!!!
