I had this similar decision sept last year and i went for the TYPE S 1.8 purely for the reason of insurance as it was £1500 more a year (to be expected being 21 and living in Leeds!) though if this is not an issue i would definitely treat yourself with a Type R, as you whenever you drive past one you will always think, if only i had! (like i do! haha) I have the honda happiness and extra 5 year warranty, servicing will cost about £250 when you have to, no real difference for a TYPE R! The petrol consumption is an issue but come on when you have got the fun of a TYPE R you will soon be able to justify the extra cost of fuel! Hope this helps!
