There are two options to solve this problem:

1. Paint protection film - using a quality product, like 3M and not a piece of film off eBay should solve the problem of the film cracking or discolouring. Many manufacturers use this film around the dogleg sections of their vehicles from new with no problem.

2. Car repainted - Obviously the more expensive option, but if the lacquer is done with PPG's ceramiclear or similar then the paint will be as hard as nails and there should be a significant reduction in stone chip damage. Mercedes and other manufacturers use this lacquer with great results.
