I'm off to London tomorrow, for a works conferance in Earl's Court.
The top brass have made a big thing about it being the 'most eco-friendly conference we have ever had', and as such have 'strongly discouraged' us from driving there.
So instead of me doing my normal drive to Hammersmith (170 miles each way = 340 = 8 gallons = £40 max), I have to catch the train.
Off Peak ticket T&Cs say the train must arrive in London by 8:00am.
The 5:54 train from Cardiff arrives at Paddington at 8:01am.
The earlier one than that leaves at 5:15am
Off Peak Open Return is £57 (and I couldn't leave London until 7pm)
Normal Open Return is.... wait for it... £158
So I'm saving the planet (assuming that my share of the emmisions on the train is actually lower than the Civ will kick out), but costing the company an extra £120.
Plus the £10 it will no doubt cost for the cup of dodgy train coffee and microwaved lump of gristle ina bun LOL
anyho - enough for now, otherwise I'll be too wound up to sleep and end up missing the train anyway
