And why should workers who have fought to keep Final Salary Pensions be demonised just because other workers in this country have said 'Yes please Mr. Boss, please take away my decent pension, and replace it with one that will pay out less when I retire, and by the way I don't mind working another 5 years to help pay for it'.

The main difference is that if I have a disagreement with my boss, I sort it out with my boss.

How would you like it if I made it that you could not get to work, or your whole life was disrupted because my boss changed working arrangements, often not as seriously for current employees (more complicated), but often for people who do not even work for the company yet.

IMO There is a big difference between the rights of long standing employees and employees who in some cases have not even started with the company yet. Even so the unions (if they have the clout they claim to) can sort things out without paralising the general public. Having to resort to strike shows weakness (or publicity seeking) by the union leaders.

Unions at internationally owned companies (like the one in Grangemouth) should be extra careful because they will have no connection to the British staff and if the refinery becomes uneconomic because of repeated industrial action the overseas management will find it very easy where to cut staff if the work can be done more cheaply overseas.
