You are dead right. I am a salesman and as such paid to earn not only myself but my dealership money. As far as i'm aware, that last time I looked we weren't a registered charity.

HOWEVER,

The industry has suffered for long enough with the image of shifty salesmen and couldn't give a toss staff and it has certainly got a hell of a lot better in the ten years or so i've been in it.

There are right ways to do the job too and I have always followed the rule to treat the customer how I would expect to be treated if it were me walking in the door. I have been fortunate to make a fair few friends and aquaintances through my job over the years and would like to think that its through the way I have dealt with people. I have a fair few 'repeat' customers despite changing brands during those years so I must have done something right somewhere.

Yeah great, make a killing out of one customer and never see em again. Hows about, do a good job, yes, make a FAIR profit and with any luck, see that customer again when they want to change, see their kids, family, colleagues and mates when they want to change because they feel comfortable that I have done the job well and given them the deal they are happy with.???

What is the likelihood of Kojak referring ANYONE to the dealership that he's got his car from?? no matter how great the car is.

The sheer fact that the dealership in concern has caved in so quickly shows that they know they are in the wrong massively and wouldnt have a leg to stand on if it went further.

Note to Pottsy - Hows about pinning this on one of the boards for future reference???
