Nope

There has been lots of speculation recently and even articles in the press which have been proved to be false.

When they widened and resurfaced the western section during 2004/5 they did not replace any cameras.

What they are now doing, and a new set have appeared in the last 24hrs, is installing HADECS cameras along the western section.

These cameras are 'blindingly obvious' when viewed from the opposite carriageway but hidden by the gantry framework on the direction of travel.

The latest set are on one gantry, both directions, at Junction 12 (M3/M25).

Clockwise they are after the M23 and anti-clockwise the gantry immediately prior to the M3 turnoff.

What I don't know is whether they vary with the variable speed limit or whether they are just looking for the over 70mph mob.
